The Water Company (TWC)

TWC combines a novel nanotechnology materials set and a new system design to make Capacitive Deionization (CDI), a water treatment process, economically competitive with other treatment options.   As it was developing its technology TWC, which is backed by UHNW angels such as Eli Jacobs (former owner of the Baltimore Orioles), engaged with Bighorn to evaluate CDI’s commercialization options.  Bighorn evaluated numerous water treatment market niches and profiled competitive technologies to select the best commercialization options for TWC.  Once target markets were defined, Bighorn refined TWC’s sales collateral, identified and worked with the sales team to attract beta customers and helped manage beta sites.  In addition Bighorn authored an update to TWC’s fundraising documents.

It was a pleasure to work with Tony (Bighorn Ventures) while I was leading The Water Company. Tony started as a consultant and quickly made an impact by helping us understand several water treatment market segments and the potential for our technology in those market spaces. Bighorn interviewed a good sample of prospective customers in each of our potential target markets, which provided the management team with a strong feel for the pain points in those markets and provided a data driven foundation for us to select our initial target markets. Tony also revamped our marketing materials, identified targets for pilot testing, worked with our sales/executive team to close a pilot project at a sizable prospective customer, and updated our fundraising materials that were used in a successful funding event.
