Tony Anast is the principal behind Bighorn Ventures a consulting firm practicing in strategic marketing and finance. Bighorn has helped its clients understand their marketplace landscape and deliver growth through new product or service offerings, marketing and sales initiatives, acquisitions/venture financing or some combination thereof.
Prior to forming Bighorn Ventures Tony was the Vice President of Corporate and Business Development at Ardesta LLC, a venture capital fund focused upon MEMS and Nanotechnology, where he invested in Translume and NeoPhotonics. While at Ardesta he was also the Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at Translume, an innovator in femto-second laser glass processing. Prior to Translume and Ardesta Tony's experience includes a role in Corporate Development at Level 3 Communications (NASDAQ:LVLT), a broadband services provider, assessing network expansion and new service projects and allocating Level 3's $14 billion in funding. He also worked in product marketing with KLA-Tencor (NASDAQ:KLAC), a yield management semiconductor equipment and solutions company, where he worked on the development and highly successful launch of the 22xx series of wafer inspection tools. Tony's engineering experience includes roles at Bandgap Technology (now part of Oplink - NASDAQ:OPLK), a VCSEL laser manufacturer, and Intersil Semiconductor (NASDAQ:ISIL), a wireless, power and analog IC provider, where Tony worked in materials characterization, process engineering, and manufacturing quality roles.
Tony is an MBA graduate of Harvard's Graduate School of Business Administration where he performed research assessing commercialization opportunities in the sensor network (today we'd call it Internet of Things) and nanotechnology markets. Tony has an undergraduate degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and performed masters level work in Electrical Engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Tony interviews candidates for admissions at Harvard and is a competitive softball and basketball coach. Tony lives in Colorado with his wife and three teenagers.
